BRONX - Cops are trying to figure out why a mother was targeted by a gunman who fired into her car when she sat with her kids in Co-op City on a Saturday afternoon.

At around 3 pm on March 4, the 43-year-old mom was sitting in her Toyota Rav 4 with her 13-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son in Carver Loop in Co-op City.

Suddenly the front and rear windshields shattered as bullets pierced the glass. Cops say a gunman fired two shots at the SUV with the family inside.

No one was injured and the gunman fled on foot.

Cops released grainy surveillance video footage that appears to have been taken inside the lobby of an apartment building, possibly a Co-op City tower.

The gunman is said to be 18 to 21 years old and 180 pounds. He is 5 foot 8 and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a black jacket and gray sneakers. In the video, his face was covered with a ski mask or a balaclava.

Police did not release a motive for the shooting but did admit the mother was the gunman’s intended target.
