Arrest Made in Stabbing Near Bronx Community College

BRONX - Police have arrested a man for the brutal stabbing of a man near Bronx Community College.
Police arrested 44-year-old Joel Diaz of Southern Boulevard for the murder of Fitzroy Bennett. Diaz was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
No motive for the fatal stabbing has been given at this time.
At around 5 am on December 6, officers from the 52nd Precinct responded to a call of an unconscious man on the corner of 183rd Street and University Avenue. There they found 28-year-old Fitzroy Bennett lying on the sidewalk unresponsive.
EMS rushed Bennett to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
