Silent Night Shooter Caught - Cops Say

Police say they arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting near the Bronx Zoo.

BRONX - Police arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting near the Bronx Zoo hours after Christmas. 


Police arrested 19-year-old Yerson Arzu of 138th Street. He was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon. 




Investigators said Arzu shot and killed 28-year-old Carlos Gonzalez of Intervale Avenue.


At around 4 am on December 26, police officers from the 48th Precinct responded to reports of shots fired. At the corner of Marmion Avenue and East Tremont Avenue they found Gonzalez lying in the street. 


EMS rushed the victim to nearby St. Barnabas Hospital but he was pronounced dead. 





No motive for the early morning shooting or the reason why the gunman shot the victim so many times is unknown at this time.
